PUBLICSPACE.IT is a project conceived by Gionata Gesi Ozmo and realized with the collaboration of Magtzedong. The aim of the project is the fruition and perception of public spaces in Milan, through that community of people, who following its inclinations or necessities, acts in the public space even though this means going against the limits imposed by society or exploring its boundaries.
The work has been presented for the exhibition "Con altri occhi: La città vista dai giovani artisti" (With other eyes: The city seen by young artists), curated by Katia Anguelova and Roberto Pinto, and consists in a web site offering an interactive map of the city of Milano. On the map sensitive points are traceable and they account for the situation experienced in that specific area (street, square etc.). The web users can contribute to the map through their indications. So the work can evolve in time and become a critical instrument for a survey and rediscovery of the city, along with the "official" point of view and that of the sources of information.
The intention of the project is to provide both a representation and an instrument for those who desire to confront themselves with this kind of reality (made up of many illegal activities, going on under the very eyes of the inhabitants) and trigger doubt, putting on the spot the situation that the users of the city undergo or help to create.
The project does not aspire at being a precise survey of the phenomena represented but as a chance to reconsider one's perception of the urban environment.

PUBLICSPACE.IT è un progetto ideato da Gionata Gesi Ozmo e realizzato grazie alla collaborazione di Magtzedong. Ha come oggetto la fruizione e la percezione degli spazi pubblici a Milano, attraverso quella comunità di persone disposta, seguendo le proprie vocazioni o necessità, ad agire nello spazio pubblico anche a costo di infrangere i limiti imposti dalla società, esplorandone i confini. L'opera è presentata nell'ambito di "Con altri occhi: La città vista dai giovani artisti", manifestazione curata da Katia Anguelova e Roberto Pinto, e consiste in un sito internet costituito da una mappa interattiva della città di Milano. Nella mappa sono presenti punti sensibili che rimandano a informazioni sulla "situazione" sperimentabile in quella specifica zona (via, piazza etc).
Gli utenti del sito possono arricchire, con le proprie segnalazioni, la mappa. In questo modo l'opera potrà evolversi nel tempo e costituire uno strumento per l'indagine e la riscoperta della città in modo critico, relazionandosi con il punto di vista "ufficiale" e degli organi di informazione.
L'intento è quello di fornire, nel contempo, una rappresentazione ed uno strumento per chi vuole confrontarsi con questo tipo di realtà (molte delle quali illegali anche se sotto gli occhi degli abitanti) e suscitare riflessioni mettendo in discussione le situazioni create e subite dai fruitori della città.
Il progetto non vuole essere una rilevazione esatta dei fenomeni rappresentati ma un'occasione per riconsiderare la propria percezione della realtà urbana.
